Coca-Cola Europe Clarifies Bottle Recycling Plans

July 13, 2018: 12:00 AM EST
The head of sustainability at Coca-Cola European Partners told attendees at a recent industry meeting that the company plans to make sure all of its bottles are made from 50 percent recycled plastic within two years, and that its large PET bottles will be made with 40 percent recycled content starting in October. The two-year plan will affect 14 bottle designs and seven production lines, resulting in re-use of 100 million more bottles a year. Under its “This Is Forward” initiative, the company has committed to ensuring that at least half of the material used for PET bottles will be recycled plastic by 2025.
