CPG Manufacturers Face 10 Trends, PMMI Report Says

January 2, 2013: 12:00 AM EST
Consumer packaged goods manufacturers face 10 major issues affecting their business, according to PMMI's report on the Vision 2020 focus groups the company conducted during Pack Expo International 2012. These issues are difficulty of recruiting and retaining employees, sustainability and lean manufacturing processes, and the rise of Gen Y consumers, people born between the mid-1970s and the late 1990s. Also, CPG vendors need to deal with social media, compliance with current and proposed regulations, operational reliability, and innovations in manufacturing materials and packaging. CPG vendors also have to plan and operate globally and keep a close watch on capital investments. Finally, CPG companies are finding it easier to adopt sustainable practices.
