Wal-Mart CEO Urges Employees, Suppliers To Become Sustainability Trailblazers

February 17, 2014: 12:00 AM EST
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. CEO Doug McMillon called on employees and suppliers to innovate during the retailer’s 2014 Global Sustainability Milestone Meeting. During his speech, McMillon recalled then CEO Lee Scott’s announcement of the company’s sustainability goals 10 years ago. While acknowledging that Wal-Mart has made significant achievements in terms of sustainability, McMillion said the next huge step will likely be driven by innovations based on a total-system approach. He challenged employees and suppliers to come up with ways they could help the retailer advance its sustainability agenda.
